The Journey of Life

What?

My final Biology lecture in INTEC with my lecturer and classmates.

Two years in INTEC seem to have gone by with a blink of an eye. American education is altogether different from the Malaysian Education in many ways, but two years of training is good enough. As what most of my friends said, “If you can survive in INTEC, life in the States will be just fine”. With that, on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, I left my beloved family in KLIA to sit on 3 different planes for approximately 27 hours before arriving safely in Roanoke. What an experience! I crossed the great Pacific Ocean, caught a glimpse of LA and Chicago, ate 3 wonderful in-flight meals and got myself a fear of small seats on planes. I don’t think I will be going home so soon unless I’m flying Business Class, which is out of the question for a student like me.

With my beloved family in KLIA before departure.

The third in-flight meal - Cheese Omelet.

So What?

Image of Lane Stadium taken by me from afar.
So I stayed over at my friend’s place in Shenandoah Circle for almost a week until I move into my own apartment on Broce Drive. Along the way, I was given a tour around Virginia Tech and its famous Lane Stadium, introduced to Kroger, Food Lion and “Wallie World” and left alone to venture around Blacksburg.  The bad news is, I got lost and had to walk all the way back from Kroger to my apartment; the good news is, I never get lost again after that. Everything seemed different: the roads, the people, the attitude, the currency and many more. Ironically, everything felt the same to me; I am still living on earth, directly opposite Malaysia, only a 12-hour time difference and I still have to attend classes.  My mission in Tech: I need to score better than I used to back in INTEC. This means I need to be more hardworking, because laziness is my biggest weakness.

Now What?

Beautiful view of the War Memorial Chapel.
Now, I am taking 6 courses and enjoying them better as I get to know more and more people in each class. So far, I think Horticulture and Food Science and Technology are very interesting subjects; I have decided to take them as my minors! As for my mission, I will persevere to be more industrious although sometimes, the weather does take a toll on me. As a matter of fact, temperate weathers reduce my productivity. I have been warned of the approaching winter and I wonder how it will be. No matter what, I must not let my loved ones down and a promise is a promise. This semester will definitely be a great one!
